David E. Spletzer was born in Brooklyn, NY. His forebears include a baron of the French Empire who served under Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte during the Napoleonic Wars. He is a graduate of Central High School and the University of the Arts, both located in Philadelphia, PA. His work has appeared in IronMan, In-Fisherman , Saltwater Sportsman and Sport Fishing magazines. He is the inventor of the Thigh-Mate®, a patented fitness device that has appeared on QVC and in numerous catalogs. An avid collector of primitive weapons, fossils and antiquities; several items from his personal collection have been licensed to fossil replica companies. He is an enthusiastic outdoorsman and conservationist, as well as a world-record-holding angler. His conquests have been documented in Bassmaster, Outdoor Life, Northeast Saltwater, and numerous other periodicals.
